The NGA has a mission in the bodybuilding and fitness field. Since the inception of our organization we have greatly contributed to the many changes for the betterment of athletes. The NGA's crusade Drug-Free Athletes of America is committed to promote only natural (non steroids) bodybuilding and fitness events.
Besides our mission, the NGA has always and will continue to fight against politics and control of athletes. Control and poor treatment should not be tolerated by any athlete. They should be treated with the respect that they deserve. As long as he or she qualifies for a particular contest, they should be allowed to enter without any prejudice. The NGA only asks athletes to enter drug-free shows from whatever organization they choose. They should not be asked to pick a particular organization and should be allowed to join as many organizations as they choose. Athletes are free agents.
All NGA sanctioned contests require a minimum of seven (7) years drug-free status and all athletes are tested.
Beginning in the year 2000 the NGA instituted the NGA Professional Bodybuilding Division. All professional athletes are tested for seven (7) years drug-free. The NGA will be accepting any natural professional bodybuilder from any organization or those athletes who have previously qualified to turn pro through the NGA. All that is required is proof of your enrollment in a pro organization. Please check our schedule for dates of the NGA Professional Shows (TIER 5).
The NGA is the largest organization in the world for natural amateur bodybuilders, which is paving the way for the next generation of bodybuilding athletes. Today the NGA has become the largest sponsor for competitive amateur bodybuilding contest in the U.S. Currently the NGA has registered athlete’s world wide and growing. he rate of growth over the last 10 years has been do in part by the NGA developing and sponsoring natural competitors in the sport of bodybuilding in the U.S.
Today the NGA is dedicated to serving and educating athletes about the dangers of drugs in sport. he NGA is the ambassador for armature bodybuilding athletes and to the public by promoting awareness about drugs and the dangers to athletes. The NGA sponsors one of the largest Professional natural Bodybuilding competitions in the country and has been promoting shows across the U.S for the past 20 years.
In addition these shows that are sponsored by the NGA have become some of the world's most prestigious professional natural bodybuilding organization and now is working hand-in-hand with several new organizations for sanctioning amateur competitions across the U.S. and around the world.
Our amateur bodybuilding contestants MUST BE a minimum of 7 years drug free!
TIER 1 - General NGA Contests:
Novice competitors can not have placed 1st in a novice division or placed in the top 3 in the open division in any organization. If you are ineligible to compete in the novice class, via a placing in another organization, then you must place in the top 3 in the open division in a TIER 1 contest to advance to the State qualifier.
TIER 2 - State Qualifiers:
The top 3 placing in the open division will qualify for a TIER 4 or TIER 3 Show. To qualify for TIER 2, the athlete must place in the top 3 in a TIER 1 contest or 1st place in a Novice division in a TIER 1 or 2 contest. TIER 2 may also include other divisions such as Novice, Teens and Masters.
TIER 3 - Limited Pro Qualifiers:
The overall winner in the men's and women's division will qualify to receive an NGA Pro card. (The CAN/AM will award the top American and/or Canadian in the men's and women's open division). To qualify for TIER 3, the athlete must place in the top 3 in a State or TIER 2 level contest. TIER 3 may also include other divisions such as Novice, Teens and Masters. However, Pro cards will only be awarded in the Open division.
TIER 4 - Top Level Pro Qualifiers:
Each class winner in each division will qualify to receive an NGA Pro card. To qualify for TIER 4, the athlete must place in the top 3 in a State or TIER 2 or 3 level contest. TIER 4 may also include other divisions such as Novice, Teens and Masters. However, Pro cards will only be awarded in the Open division.
TIER 5 - NGA Professional Shows:
Eligible to all athletes who have won a placement in an NGA pro qualifier and any natural professional from another organization (proof required). Seven years drug-free required.
NOTE 1: Novice, masters and teenagers may compete in any TIER show that has a novice, master or teenage division.
NOTE 2: NGA open classes in TIERS 2, 3 and 4 are 7 years drug-free. All other divisions are a minimum of 5 years drug-free. However, an athlete can request to be tested for 7 years.
NOTE 3: In an open divison there will be three weight classes for women and four weight classes for men. In TIERS 2, 3 and 4, if there is less than 5 athletes in a weight class, the weight class winner can only turn pro if they win the overall title.
The NGA will continue to sponsor and grant pro-qualifiers.
The NGA's Pro Natural Bodybuilding division is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to inform the public through education and commutation. Today the NGA aims to provide information to the population at large regarding the dangers of drug usage in sports activities and to provide a positive and fair competitive arena for its' athletes. The NGA follows a strict drug-testing policies regarding there drug-free requirement needed for all there competing athletes.

The NGA maintains strict qualifying standards for eligibility in reference to athlete participation in NGA Professional sanctioned events. These standards include the following:
Participation in Qualifying for Professional Competitions
The amateur athletes who participate in amateur competitions identified as qualifiers for Pro competition and whom place in accordance to standards identified by the NGA shall be eligible to join the NGA pro ranks. Sample qualification standards include:
Professional Men’s Master Division
The NGA will include a pro men’s master and pro qualifier events.
TIER A: Pro Qualifier Men’s Master Championship
TIER B: Professional Men’s Master Division
Athletes who hold an NGA pro card and have not placed in the money or have not accepted the money can still maintain their amateur status and enter NGA amateur shows. These rules will offer an athlete the opportunity to continue competing in NGA qualifiers so they can reach their goals in attaining other overall championship titles.
With the growth of women entering the fitness arena everyday, the need for a competition to show their endeavors has grown. Many Women who not wanted to do bodybuilding posing and incurring the extreme leanness have turned to fitness competition. But, now with fitness routines being of gymnastic quality, many women were left out of the competition arena. Figure will enable women that dedicate so much of their time to achieve physical perfection a competition to exhibit their "fitness figure".
Fitness Figure Standards
In developing a standard for fitness figure the following must be considered.
Competition Rounds and Rules
There will either be two or three classes depending on how many competitors. The classes are as follows:
Class A: 5'2" and under
Class B: 5'3" thru 5'5"
Class C: over 5'5"
Round One - Two Piece Suit
Contestants will be brought out all at once and do quarter turns with other contestants wearing high heels. No thongs permitted. No oil may be used. Sheen is okay. Jewelry may be worn.
Round Two - Two Piece Suit
The contestant will present quarter turns with other contestants wearing their two piece swim suits and choice of heels. Judges may ask to change contestants for comparison. Each round will be worth one half of the total score.
Night Show
At the night show contestants will be introduced one by one. They will move to stage left or stage right. When all are on stage they will line up for quarter turns then exit the stage. In round two the top three will be selected, others will file of stage, at which point the placing will be announced. Class winners will be brought out for comparison to select overall winner. Note to contestant: do not use pastel suits. They have a tendency to wash you out under the lights. Wear little to no platforms. They do not display your calves at their best.
